Chicago Book Expo Held in Uptown
SSA#34 Supports Pop-Up Independent Publisher Event
The inaugural event developed by Chicago Writers House was held on the weekend of November 19-20, 2011. Uptown United and Uptown SSA#34 supported the event held in two Uptown locations.
Most of the programming was held in the former Borders Bookstore space at 4716 N. Broadway. Other events were held at the nearby 'speakeasy' in the lower level of the historic Uptown Broadway Building and in the Charlie Chaplin Auditorium of St. Augustine College. The college now occupies the original location of Essanay Studios -- Charlie Chaplin's movie studio -- before it moved westward to Hollywood.
Dozens of independent publishers participated with fascinating speaker panels were held throughout both days
Special thanks to Cole-Taylor Bank, Joseph Freed & Associates, and At Properties for allowing use of their spaces. Especially Freed since they need all the good ink they can get right now. For more info, contact John Rich of Chicago Writers House or Alyssa Berman-Cutler at 773-878-1064.
